Mossakowski Was At Kentucky For A Reason

Ryan Mossakowski never was an impact player at Kentucky, and with his most recent decision to transfer, never will be.

Ryan, a 4-star quarterback coming out of Centennial High School in Frisco, Texas, said he was transferring because he wanted playing time. His decision now is where, and Ryan hasn’t ruled out moving down to a Division I-AA school to allow him to play in 2011 versus having to sit out for a year.

In high school, Ryan threw for over 7,400 yards and 51 touchdowns. Although the ground game isn’t his strength, he rushed for 799 yards and 20 touchdowns.

Recently Larry Vaught of Vaught’s Views had a chance to catch up with Ryan’s High School Coach, Mark Howard, who said he will unofficially coordinate his former player’s recruitment again.

Here are some excerpts from Larry’s post:
Howard is going through some college contacts he has to let them know Mossakowski is leaving UK and wants somewhere else to play.

“He has no geographical restrictions about where he’ll play,” Howard said.

Mossakowski could have stayed on the game, gone through spring practice to compete with Morgan Newton for the No. 1 job and then transferred. Howard said Mossakowski didn’t do that because he didn’t feel it was fair since he already knew he would transfer.

Howard said. “He could have stayed at Kentucky, but he is not the kind of kid just to go through the motions.”

Mossakowski said he felt UK was the “right place” for him the last two years. Howard agreed.

“He believes that, and so do I,” Howard said. “Sometimes it’s hard to see the immediate effect of what your decisions are. That is part of God’s plan. You go on and look back and realize this is where I am now because of where I was then.

“He made great friends at UK. He’s got a girlfriend. Maybe he met his future wife. He was there for a reason and that’s what he truly believes.”
From the big blue nation, we want to wish Ryan the best of luck. I hope we don’t regret allowing this young man to get away.

Go Cats!!!
