Tywanna Patterson offered these insights on her son and herself:
Question: How is Patrick doing?
Patterson: “My baby is doing great. He is in Houston with the Rockets right now. They went to the Great Wall. They toured Hong Kong. I really miss him, though.”
Question: How does he like living and playing in Houston?
Patterson: “He likes Houston. Buster and I went for week to help him get situated. He has a townhouse and is doing well by himself. He has a housekeeper that comes in once a week whenever he needs her and does my job. When we were there, she couldn’t come. Mom had to do it. I cooked for him, washed for him, ironed his clothes and did all that stuff I always did and miss doing. But he is doing great.”
Question: How does this compare to when you sent him off to Kentucky four years ago?
Patterson: “This is different. We went to the preseason games there and it was nice. We had our seats and everything. It is not like college ball. We have to get used to new people. Girls — I shouldn’t say girls — but women or whatever. We have to find out how we get our tickets, how many tickets do we get.
“We can’t go to all the games. They play too many games. We went to LA for their first away game. We are going to see him play the Denver Nuggets in their first regular-season home game. The shoe company he signed with us is having a grand opening in LA, so we are going to that. Then I think we are going to the Washington, D.C., game against the Wizards November 5 when he plays against John Wall. And the Indiana game. We have to choose our games more now based on distance, money, flying, stuff like that. So far we have it down to those four games.”
