Mike DeCourcy on the Kanter Situation

First it was Dick Vitale, now Mike DeCourcy (of the Sporting News) has weighed in on the fairness of the Cam Newton vs. Enes Kanter situations. We as Kentucky fans have to be conscientious when we review things like this, because we know we have the tendency to be UK homers with blue-colored glasses on (really? you think?). But hearing two national media types who have no Kentucky bias preach the same outlook kind of vindicates us.

At this point I’m actually encouraged. For the NCAA to find against Kanter now would be a media nightmare. Normally they can be biased and unfair and it is kept kind of quiet, but this has been laid out by two of the biggest media outlets in the nation (ESPN and the Sporting News). If the NCAA denies the Kanter appeal in the wake of the Cam Newton release, the negative press backlash may be more than they are willing to deal with. This decision will set precedent in more ways than one.
