If you are living in Kentucky, I am sure you are feeling the heat if you have been at family reunions and picnics on this beautiful Memorial Day.
Here are a couple of thoughts and links of what has happened and will happen this evening in the world of Kentucky sports.
Dario Franchitti won the Indianapolis 500 today for the 3rd time under caution and I am sure Ashley Judd is excited. The big question is she as excited as when Kentucky won the national championship. I seriously doubt it.
The Cincinnati Reds continued their winning ways, beating the Colorado Rockies 7-5 in steamy GABP today. If you haven’t noticed, or cared, the Reds are in first place and are ahead 2 full games on the reeling St. Louis Cardinals. The Reds were led by 4 homeruns, including a 3 run bomb by Brandon Phillips in the 3rd inning off half century old Jamie Moyer.
Rajon Rondo had a triple double last night to lead the Boston Celtics over the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 7 85-75. Rondo had 18 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in leading the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals vs. the Miami Heat. The Western Conference Finals start tonight as the Oklahoma City Thunder play the San Antonio Spurs at 8pm on TNT.
The University of Kentucky Baseball’s late season slide down the rankings has killed their chance of hosting a regional. Three SEC teams are set to host a regional starting next week. LSU, South Carolina, and Florida are 3 of the 16 regional sites set by the NCAA. The Cats will have to go away from the Cliff, where they were an outstanding 29-5.
