MeKale McKay has an Interesting Decision to Make

Louisville Moore’s MeKale McKay has a big decision coming his senior year.

You might think, since he has been offered to play Division 1 Football by four teams it would be hard to pick which one he wants to attend.

McKay’s decision is a little more complex.

He also has three offers to play Division 1 basketball as well.

MeKale, a 6’4″ 180lb wide receiver, is one of the top wideouts in the state of Kentucky and has the attention of a lot of big name schools.

The offers he has received are from Kentucky, Louisville, Central Florida, and Indiana. He has also been contacted by LSU, Texas, and Iowa.

MeKale led Moore to the second round of the playoffs where they lost to eventual state champion Louisville Central.

I spoke to MeKale about his football recruitment and specifically the attention he his receiving from Kentucky.

McKay said, “Coach Nord is recruiting me and we talk pretty often.” “I have also spoke to Coach Phillips a couple of times as well.”

MeKale also spoke about playing football, which he has been playing since he was “knee high.”

“I played quarterback my whole life, but then moved to wide receiver when I got into high school.” said MeKale.

“I also return kicks an play safety on defense.” he added.

When asking about his top 4 teams he is interested in he said, “LSU, Kentucky, Texas, and Central Florida in that order.”

MeKale does not have an offer from LSU or Texas yet but he said he has received a lot of letters from both schools.

The most interesting part of MeKale’s situation is the attention he is receiving from his time on the hardwood.

He has already received offers from IUPUI, Evansville, and most recently Georgia State to play college basketball. He is also being recruited by Wake Forest and NC State, both of whom he spoke to recently. He also said Austin Peay stays in contact with him as well.

MeKale said about playing basketball, ” I have only been playing basketball since I was in 8th grade, but I have grown to love it as much as football.”

“I have just been going full force playing both sports and the one I like the most switches about everyday.”

MeKale also said that most of the basketball coaches have let him speak to the football coaches at the school about maybe playing both sports in college.

MeKale is planning on taking his visits after the season, and making a decision where to go to school during the 2012 spring signing period.

It sounds like to me he has a tougher decision than most recruits.

He has to not only figure out which school to go to, he also has to figure out which sport he wants to play.
