Maxwell Smith Starts 2nd Half but LSU D Doesn’t Care

The Cats came out of halftime with a different guy at the helm, and the outcome is the same result.

Maxwell Smith started the second half for Kentucky, but Ryan Tydlacka punted again after 3 downs to give LSU the football around their own 40.

The Kentucky defense has LSU at another 3rd and long, but gave up another pass for a 1st down to get LSU driving toward the redzone. After a 8 yard run, and a defensive off sides, the Tigers was set up on the 5 yard line with 9:20 left in the 3rd.

After a running play, a personal foul on Kentucky’s Ronnie Sneed, LSU"S Alred Blue scores from the 1 yard line to push the score to 21-0 with 8:07 left in the 3rd quarter.

Josh Clemons gains a first down and Smith completes a pass for another and the offense seems to be clicking.

Then, of course, the offensive line implodes and Smith gets sacked twice in a row. The second sack there was a fumble and LSU runs it into the endzone for a touchdown.

28-0 Tigers with 4:30 left in the 3rd quarter. The route is on.

Not taking the fumble and 2 sacks into account, the offense actually showed a glimmer with Smith behind center.

Mychal Bailey runs it out to the 23 yard line on the return and the Cats try to etch something on the scoreboard.

After 2 Josh Clemons runs for a total 0f 8 yards, UK runs the same thing on 3rd down for no gain. Tydlacka punts it to the 28 yard line with 2:37 left in the 3rd.

Josh Clemons had 68 yards on 18 carries. Kentucky has 59 total yards.

Jordan Jefferson is in at quarterback for the Tigers, and he rushed for 11 yards and 10 yards for 2 first downs to the Kentucky 40 yard line.

End of the 3rd quarter: LSU 28 UK 0

Note: I don’t think it matters who is quarterback of this team, there is no way Kentucky will score in the 4th quarter. This team needs a massive overhaul on offense.

The Kentucky defense causes LSU to punt and they take over on the 20 yard line after the punt bounces into the endzone. Check that, there was defensive holding and they will start on the 5 yard line.

Kentucky continues their offensive futility, as they have a false start and start on the 2 1/2 yard line.

After Smith barely dodges a safety, Jonathan George runs for 8 yards for a 3rd and 4 on the 7. Smith goes on to throw an incompletion and Tydlacka has to punt for the 10th time which lands on the 47 yard line.

Kentucky’s defense has been on the field for 60 plays with 12:00 min. left in the 4th.

LSU brings Lee back into the game to beat the spread, and he promptly throws a bomb to Beckham for a 37 yard gain, but it looks like Kentucky’s Anthony Mosley might have intercepted it. The play is under review.

The play stands as a reception, of course, although both announcers thought it was the wrong call.

It takes LSU 2 runs with Terrence MacGee and makes it 35-0 with 10:39 left in the game.

Morgan Newton takes back over at quarterback with roughly 10 minutes left.

Newton has a nice run and a completion for a 1st down.

As the drive continues, Matt Roark drops another pass, and on 2nd down the Cats lose 5 yards as a running play is blown up.(If I miss some things, sorry, baseball is more interesting right now.)

Newton goes on to run for 13 yards to get a first down, and the Cats are on the LSU 30.

Clemons runs it on 1st and 2nd down for a total of 4 yards. Newton went on to throw a big completion to La’Rod King down to the 10 yard line. This is by far the best drive of the game.

Morgan Newton’s pass to Brian Adams was interfered with and the Cats are now 1st and goal on the 2 yard line. Newton calls timeout to make sure everything is kosher.

Clemons gets destroyed on first down for a 2 yard loss.

Kentucky finally gets on the board with a 4 yard pass to Matt Roark for a touchdown.(His first EVER)

LSU 35 Kentucky 7 with 4:22 left. Small victories…no shutout.

The drive totaled 12 plays for 70 yards. Getting closer to 200 yards offense. That touchdown was the first time Kentucky has scored in Baton Rouge since Tim Couch was quarterback.

The Kentucky defense causes the Tigers to punt after a 3 and out, and it looks like the Wildcats will beat the 30 point spread.

Kentucky takes over on the 43 with 1:46 left.

Kentucky goes for it on 4th down, and Newton runs for it to keep the drive alive. Speaking of drives, could you imagine driving all the way down to Baton Rouge to watch this?

The final horn sounds and at least the Cats beat the spread. 35-7 LSU.
