Lebron Designs a Shoe for UK and I Remember Checkerboarding My Kentucky Dunks

If you’ve been paying attention this season, you probably already know that Coach Calipari seems to have a good relationship with Lebron James. In fact, it’s rumored that Lebron may come to UK to get his degree when he’s ready. Before Lebron takes that degree, he will be lending his line of Nike Shoes to UK.

It’s also been rumored that Lebron will be attending a game at Rupp. When he did have the opportunity, he chose to attend the NCAA Football Championship instead. Even if he never attends a game, this relationship is sure to pay big dividends on the recruiting trail. What better way is there to show that you have the connections that can get a kid to the NBA, than to hang out with the arguably the best player in the world.

Here’s a look at Lebrons Kentucky Basketball shoes. I apologize, but this is the best image I could find.

This definitely isn’t the first time UK has had their own shoe. In 2008 Nike released these with little to no fan fair. That’s easy for me to understand. When your losing to Gardner Webb, it’s kind of hard to get excited over new shoes.

Does anyone remember the denim uniforms? I never was a big fan of these uniforms. If anyone can find a pic of the Converse that goes with this uniform, please post a link in the comments.

We now have a pic of the shoes, thanks to Josh Smith, a member of the UK2K Fan Page on FB!!!

Now on to the Godfather of all UK themed tennis shoes….The Kentucky Dunks!! You probably remember it well. These shoes cam out shortly after the first Air Jordans and was basically the same shoe, but blue and white. I still remember checkerboard my shoe laces!

And for those that are just itching to checkerboard your shoes right now, here’s a video that will show you how!
