Harrellson was 4 of 5 shooting vs. Coppin State, and 2 of 2 from the free-throw line for 10 points total. One of those baskets was a beautiful alley-oop (you may remember I asked Harrellson at the last game if he was adding that to his repertoire, and he said “definitely”). Well, he nailed it. Much to his credit, Harrellson is learning some of the things that Vargas still hasn’t – like NOT bringing the ball down when you rebound it at the basket. Harrellson only got 4 rebounds and a block, but his presence around the rim is improving, and so is his conditioning.
I also noticed something odd in the press box at the game. As I looked at the seating chart and saw the usual suspects (NationOfBlue, WildcatRecruits, WildcatWorld, etc.), I saw a representative from the Houston Rockets. Now, I’m not one to speculate on who the Houston Rockets may have been scouting, but there have been a few hints. Yao Ming’s recent injury may be career-ending, and Ming is Houston’s Center. Hmmmmm. John Calipari has said that some NBA scouts have been asking about his “big white kid”. Hmmmmm. There is only one senior Wildcat who is “for sure” available for the 2011 NBA Draft (*cough*Harrellson*cough*). I just don’t know, but I’m not going to speculate about it until I have some more concrete evidence.
Oh, and I’d love to show you video of Harrellson’s alley-oop, but the SEC has put the kibosh on posting game footage to YouTube, and Josh wasn’t available to the media after the game, so this is all I got. Enjoy.
