Last year, Danny Trevathan experienced one of his best seasons as a Wildcat statistically. Leading the SEC in tackles with 144, Trevathan hopes to improve and finish his career at Kentucky strong. The Chuck Bednarik Award is for the nation’s best defensive player. In 2010, LSU’s own Patrick Peterson took the trophy home with him.
There are only 65 names out of the whole country to be named to the list. Eighteen of the 65 are from the SEC. Along with Trevathan, notables on the list include five from Alabama, three from LSU, two from Vanderbilt, and one from the rest of the SEC schools, except Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
By having a All-American year in 2010, the senior linebacker should have high hopes for the coveted award. Along with trying to have another 100+ year in tackles, Trevathan will also try to continue his nine-straight game streak of double figure tackles.
