Kentucky is at the top for Jake Meador

After a tough National Signing Day for Joker Phillips, Kentucky-bred football players are still liking what the ‘Cats have to offer, despite witnessing some tough seasons from the football program in the past.

The young recruits still believe in what Kentucky has to offer.
Jake Meador (Class of 2012, Whiteland Community HS, Indiana) is an out-of-state recruit, and he still understands Kentucky’s will and fight to get better.

Thus, Kentucky is drawing interest from the 6’7”, 290 pound offensive tackle/defensive end from Indiana.

“Kentucky is at the top of my list right now, and I like what they have to offer,” he explained.

In fact, the junior likes them so much he took an official visit to Lexington a couple of weeks ago.

“I took a trip to Kentucky a couple of weeks ago and Coach Smith showed me around the campus and everything. We also went and watched the basketball game that day against Georgia.”

Not a bad day to take a visit, huh?

Meador enjoyed the atmosphere and support Big Blue Nation had to offer as well.

However, there are still other teams Kentucky will have to fight against to earn Meador’s play.

While he doesn’t have a list quite ready yet, he has a pretty decent idea of who he is looking at right now. He wants to keep his options open, though.

“Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan State, Iowa, and Alabama are teams that are recruiting me right now, too,” he said.

It seems evident that the entire Big Ten is looking into Meador, and rightfully so. The young man should develop into a very reliable lineman in the future.

But even though he is getting a lot of looks from Big Ten teams, he mentioned that an SEC team is recruiting him the hardest to this point.

“Kentucky would have to be recruiting me the hardest right now. They send a lot of coaches out to see me, and I really like that.” After a short pause, he also added, “Indiana and Wisconsin are working pretty hard, too.”

“Coach Summers really talks to me a lot and I feel that our relationship is getting better every time we speak,” he complimented.

Meador will not be the one complimenting the Kentucky staff if things continue on this particular path.

He will soon be getting numerous amounts of compliments, as this youngster has his priorities straight and he knows how to succeed.

Meador looks to be one of the main prospects Joker Phillips is concentrating on outside of Kentucky.

Hopefully he will be in Kentucky blue next year.
