Kentucky Wraps Up Spring With Annual Blue-White Game

[SIZE=3]Spring Game Roundup:
After completing its annual Blue and White Game yesterday, the Kentucky Wildcats have wrapped up spring practice for 2012. Coming in with a lot of questions, there seems to be some stability at quarterback with Maxwell Smith, who showed a lot consistent play last night. Despite throwing two interception, which one was tipped, Smith was 29-of-45 passing for 353 yards. After his performance Joker Phillips gave some high remarks heading into the summer.

“We got an idea of who some of our playmakers are.”

Playmaking was not only made by Smith, but by the guys who were catching his passes including Demarco Robinson, a freshman receiver who caught both of Smith’s touchdown passes. Another young freshman receiver seemed to step up as well. Daryl Collins, who was once committed to Alabama, before decomitting and signing with Kentucky, was high talked about yesterday afternoon. Collins made two diving catches, and was showing his skills, that was missed last season due to an ACL tear.

The rush game was something that the first team was unable to do, however, Joker Phillips believes that they have some guys coming that will help contribute in the fall.

On the defensive side of the ball, Joker seems to be relying on a couple of veterans in the middle.

He’s a real guy. He’s an SEC outside linebacker/rush backer. Avery (Williamson), pleased with the way he played. Avery was all over the place. Tony (Neely) and I were just talking about for the amount of time he played last year he had a lot of tackles. For a guy who didn’t play a lot he had a lot of tackles for us. We have two anchors inside (Mister Cobble) and (Donte Rumph) who are as good as anybody we’ll face and are as good as anybody we’ve had here. Those two guys should give our linebackers a chance to run around and make plays.”
