The #10th ranked UK Hoops pulled a 72-65 upset of the #6 ranked Duke Blue Devils in front of a record crowd of 14,508 rowdy Rupp Arena fans.
A’dia Mathies led Kentucky with 23 points on 9-15 shooting and tying a career high with 4 threes.
Freshman Bria Goss was strong though out the game knocking down big shots as she finished with 19 points on 5-11 from the field, 2-4 from the three, and 7-10 from the free throw line.
The big story of the game was freshman Azia Bishop, who came off the bench for 12 points, 11 rebounds in 19 minutes for everyone’s, including Duke’s coach, player of the game honors.
The rest of the scoring for Kentucky is as follows: Kastine Evans 6, Keyla Snowden 6, Bernisha Pinkett 2, Samantha Drake 2, and Maegan Conwright 2.
Kentucky as a team finished 29-65 from the field and 6-18 from the 3.
They also caused Duke to commit a season high 24 turnovers, while they only committed 16 total themselves.
This is a huge win for the UK women and should rise in the polls after the huge win over 2 top 10 teams in a week’s time.
Kentucky will host Arkansas Pine Bluff this Sunday at 1pm.
