The Kentucky Wildcats men’s soccer team faced the UCONN Huskies today in the Gamecocks Classic held at Eugene E. Stone III Stadium on the campus of the University of South Carolina. The Wildcats didn’t have an answer for the 6th UCONN squad who won 3-0. Kentucky (2-2-1) will face Iona (1-2-0) on Sunday to wrap up the event and on paper appear to have the upper hand.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
There are some things to build on for the Wildcats from this tilt. The Huskies have averaged 22 shots per game before entering today when they only shot 12 times. This is a testament to the Wildcats Defense. Goalkeeper Tyler Beadle had 3 saves tonight despite the 3 UCONN goals.
The Cats on the other hand shot only 7 times and used 9 substitutes throughout the match. They also had 12 fouls during the 90 minutes with 2 yellow cards issued. Kentucky freshman defender Sam Brooks led UK with two shots, including one on target. Ellis Vienne, Jordan Rose, Shaun Deliberato, Drew Midkiff and David Harrison each tallied shots.
