The Kentucky softball team capped off a great pitching performance by Rachel Riley, and scored 2 runs in the 7th inning to beat Michigan 2-1 to advance to the program’s first Super Regional.
Meagan Aull pulled a homerun down the right field line off of Michigan ace Jordan Taylor to tie the game at 1.
Kentucky had been shut down by Taylor, who had struck out 10 Wildcats before Aull finally broke the ice in the last inning.
Taylor had dominated Kentucky the entire game, but after giving up the shot by Aull, she proceeded to load the bases with 2 walks and hitting a batter.
Annie Rowland then blooped a single down the right field line to knock in the winning run.
Rachel Riley threw a 1 hitter and the only Michigan run was unearned.
Kentucky will now wait on the outcome of Cal/Louisville to see who their next opponent will be.
There is also a possibility Kentucky will host the Super Regional. That should be announced later today.
