Kentucky Overcomes Mississippi State

After a rough start with Mississippi State getting off to a 14-4 lead, the bulldogs soared off to a thirteen point lead at half, leaving the Cats questioning what they were doing. Eventually in the second half the Wildcats looked like a tough group, pulling out the win 73-64.

The first half displayed the Wildcats rushing outside shots by Darius Miller and Doron Lamb. Teague looked like our point guard of old with a great drive to the basket and a horrible shot to finish. In those situations he needs to either drive and shoot or drive and find the open man. This blue team reminded me of one that played againsed Indiana, or Louisville…not the one that held strong over Vanderbilt on the road.

Anytime Marquis Teague leads you in scoring, it’s probably not a good thing as Teague lead all UK scorers with eight points at half. MKG gave a lot of effort in the first half with six points and five rebounds. You combine that with the fact that Dee Bost played like the typical fifteen year senior with sixteen points and six assists at the half, guess it paid off for him not to get drafted in the last NBA pull eh?

Let me tell you, championship teams do not give up. This team didn’t grab a lead until FOUR MINUTES left in the second half! They kept fighting and finghting to get this lead and I saw the “kill” look in their eyes. While I know EVERY team in the contry is begging for the Cats to lose, the Wildcats work, and work, and work to make a come back to win the game with a valiant defensive effort.

Renardo Sidney had 3 points (of which he scored on the first play) for the game…..can I order a round of cheeseburgers for the team?

Da Brow is soooooo cool under pressure, this can’t be under-estimated. I LOVE watching Anthony Davis sink clutch free throws along with MKG who don’t even seem to flinch at the though that there are huge steaks on the line.

The Wildcats went on a 24 to 4 run in the second half and never looked back. One thing in star-laden teams is they sometimes get too full of themselves. NOT.THIS.TEAM.

This team refuses to lose. Darius Miller says “NOT ON MY WATCH.” This is a different team than we’ve seen in the past three years, as this group has a true will to win.

Go.Cats. Next tough match-up is against Vandy this Saturday, in Rupp….noon. Be there, cheer loud…let’s go!
