The offensive line play a key role in the SEC, as well as the rest of the conferences. However, the offensive line is key to how productive your offense will be, and for Kentucky, it was an up-and-down season for the interior players.
After signing a class full of interior linemen, the Wildcats are after some more players to play in the trenches, including Josh Harris.
Harris, who comes out of a successful high school in Alpharetta, Georgia, already had a Kentucky connection before he even made the trip up to Lexington with his Milton High School teammates.
“Two of my coaches played offensive line at Kentucky, and they have helped me a lot.”
The trip to Kentucky may have been his first, but for Harris, he claims it “felt like home” to him.
“I took a trip to Georgia Tech on Monday, but Kentucky was a lot better. It felt like home to me.”
With no offers so far, Harris is hoping for a breakout spring to change that. Listed at 6-foot-3, the athletic guard is just hoping to add even more athleticism to his arsenal.
“I’m just preparing for spring right now. I’m working on my speed and getting stronger, hoping for a breakout season so I can get those offers.”
But will Kentucky be one of those offers?
The Peach State native is in high hopes for that call.
“I talked a lot with Coach [Joker] Phillips and Coach [Mike] Summers, the offensive line coach. They reviewed my film on Friday, and I will be talking with them later this week to see what they think. All of the coaches were really cool and nice to talk to though.”
After making the trip with some Milton teammates, what did they have to say about it?
“We all had a great time. Kentucky is a great place where you can go get a great education. A place where you can play against great competition in the SEC, and a great chance to become a better person.”
What’s next for the interior lineman? The Georgia native will head to Tennessee in the next few weeks, and return back to Kentucky to watch spring practice.
