The Kentucky defense was stellar as shortstop Matt Reida and second baseman J.T. Riddle both gunned down runners at the plate to keep Morehead State from plating 2 runs.
Centerfielder Austin Cousino was 2-5 with a run scored and Thomas Bernal was 2 for 4.
The Kentucky bats were quiet with runners in scoring position, leaving 10 on base, but the defense held up it’s end of the bargain to secure the win for the Wildcats.
Alex Phillips relieved Reed in the 7th, going two frames, giving up a run.
Trevor Gott nailed down his 1st save of the season with a scoreless 9th which included 2 strikeouts and a base on ball.
