Kentucky Adds Commitment from Alvonte Bell

Kentucky added its second commitment in the 2013 class Tuesday evening. The verbal came from Everglades High School (FL) defensive end Alvonte Bell.

With a total of 12 offers on the table, Bell ultimately decided Kentucky was the place he wanted to be.

“The reason I chose Kentucky is because it felt like home to me because of the family atmosphere. Also, the way they impressed my mom was very important.”

At 6’6″, 228 pounds, Bell has superb athleticism and is very versatile. He has been recruited on the defensive side by many programs, but Kentucky could find a spot for him on offense as well.

“I am going to play defensive end and hopefully a little bit of tight end as well. I would like to play both, but I know that would be hard to do.”

Bell shared a couple things he believes he does well on defense, where he has been rated a three-star prospect via Rivals.

“I would like to believe my speed and the ability to chase the play are some things I really do well.”

He also shared what he would like to improve before he arrives in Lexington.

“My size–I need to get a little bit bigger. And I want to continue to work on my technique a little bit too.”

Bell plans to take an official visit to Kentucky but doesn’t know when. However, he did take an unofficial and was very impressed with his experience.

“It was really nice. My mom really liked the Cats Center and I liked the football and historical aspects.”

Bell had academic issues his sophomore year that limited his playing time, but he improved over his junior year and claims grades are no longer an issue.

Bell also confirmed he is set on Kentucky.

“I am definitely solid on Kentucky. I’m committed there.”

Bell joins only Manchester, KY DT Jacob Hyde in Kentucky’s 2013 class.
