Keenan has helped develop the Burton-Taylor College & Academic Scholarship. This is a scholarship that Keenan started which is in honor of his mother and father: Gladys Taylor and Edward Burton, Jr. Keenan is putting $1500.00 of his own money into the scholarship, but there are others contributing or matching what Keenan is contributing. The scholarship will be awarded to one student each year who have a 2.5 or higher GPA and must have successfully overcome socio-economic and family obstacles during the course of their educational career, thus far. The total of the scholarship won’t be known until June 2nd.
The scholarship is targeted to kids in Louisville who will be attending either the University of Kentucky or Washington University in St. Louis. The scholarship is a part of the non profit organization called 1+1=U. 1+1=U mission is to impact the lives of young men and women. This is done through higher learning by way of Universities/Colleges, Technical/Vocational Schools, Prep Military academics or Boarding Schools. 1+1=U, Inc. realizes that every school is not for every student. We seek to encourage self-discipline, integrity and education in a Holistic environment that promotes leadership and responsibility.
I wish every player which has the means to help their hometown would take the time do so. It is great when people realize where they “came from” and respect what got them where they are today. This is the definition of who Keenan Burton is and I am proud that he is a Wildcat.
