Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock
While the NCAA continues to ponder the future of Enes Kanter’s college career, Kanter is unable to practice with his teammates and time is ticking away. Everyone continues to think that a ruling will come soon and that the NCAA will not let him sit and wait for much longer without the ability to practice or move on. The reality is, we have all thought that for a while now. That is, that the NCAA would be making a ruling. Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock…

Earlier this week, Mike DeCourcy had an exclusive chance to exchange some emails with Kanter’s father for The Sporting News. The most revealing item from the article was Dr. Kanter explaining that he knew for 3 years that he wanted Enes to come play ball in an American college and knew that it meant he must maintain an amateur status.
“Since 2007, I wanted Enes to go to the USA and continue his basketball and education there, so I try everything to keep my son amateur and keep meticulous records of all the expenses knowing someday I may be asked (to) fully cooperate with the NCAA.”
Dr. Kanter said “never once” was a salary demanded from Fenerbahce or discussed. “I always try to protected Enes from anything might damage his future.”
That indicates to me that there are a couple of sets of documents for the NCAA to consider. Those that were provided by Fenerbahce and those that were provided by Mr. Kanter. How in the world can the clearninghouse determine which are accurate? Which do they believe?
In the meantime, Kanter, Calipari, the Wildcats and UK fans sit and wait. Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock…
