Let the mud slinging commence. Journalist in and around the Oregon area are taking this opportunity to question the recruiting practices of Coach John Calipari. Any school that a 5-star recruit changes his mind to go to must be imploring illegal/sleazy/immoral recruiting techniques, right? Give me a break. Jones clearly stated that he wanted the opportunity to play in the national spotlight and for a team that had a better chance at winning. I can’t for the life of me fathom why that is so hard for people to understand.

John Canzano of Oregon Live sure isn’t trying to become Coach Cal’s bff. “I’m not buying that Jones was motivated solely by the idea of a bigger national stage at Kentucky. Or the idea that the Wildcats are a better fit for his style of play. And I certainly wonder about the people who surround Jones today, including his summer coaches, because they feel a lot like a pack of guys sucked into the jet stream of grandeur they found drafting behind the kid. We’re being told the chapter on Jones recruitment is closed. Nothing more to say. Nothing more to see. Move along, right? Except, Kentucky coach John Calipari is involved.”
Everything that is said by Coach Cal or Terrence Jones must be a part of some master plan to cover up the truth. Coach Cal has said repeatedly that he is the coach of UK next year. Despite his efforts to communicate that to as wide of an audience as he can, we’re still hearing people say he is leaving. Now, Terrence Jones has told the world why he decided to reverse his commitment to UW and choose UK instead but people are saying there must be other reasons. It’s going to be a long off-season.
