Johnny O’bryant, the number three power forward in the 2011 class as ranked by rivals.com, has said that UK is high on his list. It doesn’t hurt that current UK commits Marquis Teague and Michael Gilchrist have been working their recruiting magic.
O’bryant said he “knows he would be playing with a great group of guys. He goes on to explain his style of play to Patrick Patterson, saying that he is a better offensive player then defensive and that he can post up and challenge the big guys. He can also keep the smaller guys out of the paint.
He also compares his early basketball career to Cousins, both started out playing football, are big, and had to have their moms steer them towards basketball.
With all of these comparisons to UK players this past year, him admitting UK is very high, his love of coach Cal, UK exposure, and his desire to play with the top players in college basketball….How long is it until he commits?? And an interesting tidbit: if he doesn’t make the NBA what’s his fall back? He wants to be a fashion designer. Although he hasn’t designed anything yet, he says he could. Good luck to you O’bryant, whether you play for us or another college team, an NBA star or a top designer.
