Anyone who has been to a game at Rupp this year knows that Jarrod Polson is a crowd favorite. Every time he gets the ball, the arena erupts with calls to “Shoot! Shoot!” Unfortunately, Polson is currently picking up garbage minutes (2:00 left in the game, UK having comfortable lead). But Coach Calipari has made a promise to his bench players (or threat depending on how you see it): “It’s on.”
That’s how Coach Cal said it when asked about improving his bench players. Cal had commented before the Georgia game that maybe the Cats could get away with a 6-man lineup since the bench was underperforming. But after being beaten by the Bulldogs, Cal consented that Kentucky had to have performance from the bench if they were going to meet expectations this year. So he has declared a challenge to and with his bench to make them better contributors. It’s on.
Below is a video interview with Polson after the Auburn game where he discusses (among other things) the additional training and the treadmill… and his thoughts about being told to SHOOT!
