An impressive performance in the Peach Jam tournament a few days ago, led Memphis (TN) Central power forward Jarnell Stokes to believe that he might hear from a team on his list from which he wanted to hear a little more. After all, University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari and his assistants were front and center for just about every game he played.

“I haven’t heard much at all from Kentucky,” Stokes said, from the AAU 17u Super Showcase down in Orlando this week. “So, I’ve kind of moved them out of my top 6. But I’m still wide open. That’s the only change.”
The Scout-rated number four power forward in the class of 2012, Stokes thought the phone would at least ring with a UK coach on the other end at some time before the Florida tourney.
“I was expecting to hear a lot more from them, because I saw them at all my games. People were telling me that they were at my games to see me, but I didn’t hear much at all from them. I just gotta move on.”
Kentucky has not been ruled out entirely. But there is a lot of ground the Cats would have to make up. “You can start out by calling once,” Stokes said, exasperated. “That would be a start. But I’m not worried about it. I have a lot of offers. I’m good either way.”
Florida remains a hot school for Stokes. “I’ve talked to Coach Donovan and Coach Pelphrey a lot recently. So, yeah, there are definitely in there. And I hear from Coach Pastner at Memphis a lot. I mean, he is right there in my backyard.”
