It Starts Early

Last season, the Wildcats were outscored in the first two quarters 223-201. The loss in the first half is a big reason why the season ended a disappointing 6-7. While the deficit still was large for the whole season, the Wildcats still accomplished to outscore their opponents 406-363, along with a 205-146 advantage in the second half.

The first three games of last season showed the offensive threat the ‘Cats possessed, but when facing an SEC opponent the Wildcats were outscored by a large margin of 173-88. The struggles seem to set back the ‘Cats as they need to overcome the first half struggles to compete in the East this year. Having a defensive that has returning starters, Steve Brown and Rick Minter need to help prevent the struggles that make a win seem impossible. But, on a positive note, the Wildcats outscored everyone non-conference opponent during the 2010 season. Notable starters like Danny Trevathan and Winston Guy should help bring leadership to a first half struggling defensive unit.
