This was a game where the Cats were in total control throughout most of the contest.. It could have gotten tight as the Cats would go cold in spurts, but the Commodores could just not hit the shots to get under 10. Lets look at the box score and see how the game played out.

[*]I will start off with the negatives, and the biggest one that I saw was the play of Darius Miller. He played 8 minutes, 0-1 from the field, 3 personal fouls, 2 assists and 1 turnover. With Dodson playing well after starting, and Bledsoe playing better today, Miller is looking like that odd man out in the rotation.
[*]Free throw shooting was horrendous. 64.1% is not acceptable from a team that will be competing for the national title We just can’t put halves together where we shoot over 70% from the line as a team.
[*]We shot the basketball better from the 3 more than we did at the line. We shot 12-23 for a 52% clip. If you shoot the basketball like this, you are not going to get beat very often. The free throws won’t matter if we hit the homerun like we did today.
[*]DeAndre Liggins was Mr. Energy again today. He played 25 minutes and scored 9 points, 2-4 from the field, 4-6 from the free throw line, 4 rebounds and 2 steals. Cal recruited him at Memphis, and you can see why he did. He fits this offense perfectly. He is a perfect bench player right now. Instant energy.
[*]Rebounding was outstanding. The Cats outrebounded Vanderbilt 41-22. UK had 18 offensive rebounds (led by Cousins with 8), while Vandy had 3. Excellent recovery for the guys in the paint on the boards.
[*]Darnell Dodson answered the call in his surprise start going 4-8 from behind the arc and ended up with 16 points in 18 minutes. Keep it up Darnell, you can start anytime when you put up numbers like this!!
[/LIST]All in all it was a dominate victory for the Cats today. Cousins is an absolute monster and if he keeps staying consistent and tones down the attitude we could be headed deep into the tournament. I thought Pat answered the call by hitting 3 threes and John Wall did his usual. It will be a lot different game when we go to Nashville, so I am enjoying this one while I can. Vandy is a different team in Memorial Gym.
