The Auburn game became a scary game late and I had bad thoughts of losing vs a very bad team. I am going to check out the box score and see if we can find out what happened.

My first point has to be on the minds of all things Blue this weekend and that is free throw shooting. The Cats shot a cool 59% from the charity stripe in the 1st half. They picked it back up in the 2nd half to shoot at a 87% clip. I worry about the free throws because this is what gave Auburn hope. We make free throws in the 1st half we wouldn’t have had to worry about making them in the 2nd half. Jumping on a weak team early and taking their will to win out of the competition than you have basically won the game already. The Cats just make it harder on themselves not making free throws.

The next thing I noticed is John Wall’s turnovers. The Great Wall of Kentucky had 7 turnovers to only 4 assist. I know he is the stud of studs and definite top draft pick and he is our Savior, Blue Jesus. I want John Wall to stay in control and distribute the basketball. He can also dunk it anytime he wants to.

Demarcus Cousins was a battler all day long. He goes to War everytime the ball goes up. Double Double. Yawn. Bring on Varnardo! It is the matchup I am looking forward to most, even more than Wall vs. Downey!

The Cats as a team shot 51% from the field. It is hard to lose when you shoot that well.

Darius Miller and Darnell Dodson(I call them the Double Ds)combined for 2-7 from the field(all threes), 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers. Darius also had 2 big blocks on one possession. You can decide for yourself if these 2 guys played well. All I remember of Dodson was a bad shot he took just inside the 3pt line around the top of the key.

Eric Bledsoe likes to shoot.

Mr. Energy DeAndre Liggins played very well with 2-3 shooting, 1 big three, 3 rebounds, and 5 points. Liggins battled back this week and might see more minutes vs. Arkansas next week. I could see how Liggins could move up rather quickly if the Double Ds don’t wake up and contribute more frequently.
All in All I thought the Cats battled down the stretch and survived a tough SEC road game. As my Dad has always said, they are all tough Son! You have to play everyday to win. I am glad the talent gap took over late in the game. The way Auburn was shooting the 3 had me worried for a minute. They ran out of gas, just like Florida did. I look foward to playing John and the ‘Backs, maybe we could have a Krebs and Hood sighting!
