Although it wasn’t the 31 point showing as in game one, Brandon Knight was the double-double man for the Cats with 17 points and 12 assists. He once again was the human blur as his transition game opened up the offense for Players around him. Brandon continues to look to score first, as he should, but proved tonight that he is all about making those around him better.

After a lack luster first game, Doron Lamb brought his A game, scoring 24 points on 9-14 shooting and 5-6 from the line. he has 3 boards, 4 assists and 4 steals to go with his impressive offensive showing.

Darius Miller continued to play like a beast. No double-double tonight but he did wrack up one impressive score sheet. 20 points on 8-16 shooting, including 2-6 from long. He led the team with 5 steals while swatting 5 shots and grabbing 4 boards. He appears to be turning into the leader through his example.

Josh ‘Jorts’ Harrellson was the focus of the Calipari wrath, but he came through on the floor. 12 points on 4-6 from the field and 4-4 from the line, 8 rebounds, 6 huge blocks including one where he transitioned from flat on his back on the offensive end, to blocking the lay up attempt at the defensive end. Jorts finished with a classic yell and swelling causing Calipari to bust out laughing.

DeAndre Liggins had another solid performance. 11 points from the field on 4-5 shooting including 1-1 from 3. His hustle and obvious improvement continues to impress.

Jon Hood – Scott mentioned last night that he was great at break away dunks. Tonight was a much more rounded game for Jon. He only scored 8 points on 2-5 from the field and 2-4 from 3, but he contributed 3 steals, 4 assist and 4 rebounds. The deer in the headlight look appears to be gone for the Kentucky native.
The tough game comes tomorrow morning as the Cats hit the court for a 11:00 AM tip against the Windsor Lancers. The legs will be tired and Cal will use this as a tough up game for the young Wildcats. Once again, a solid win for the men in blue. Imagine this team with Kanter, Vargas and a healthy Jones… Until tomorrow, Go Big Blue!!!
