Having Coach Cal a Big Difference for Karl Towns

Dominican Team hopeful and 16 year old future star Karl Towns is having a summer of a lifetime, who scored 7 points in 10 minutes last night vs. Team Ignition, and is drawing comparisons to Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Durant.

Mike DeCourcey of SI.com spoke to Towns last night after the DR’s overtime win in Northern Kentucky last night and he spoke of how this summer’s experience is helping his game.

If I can learn from people a lot better than me, that just makes my job a lot easier when I go down to my high school level.

“Having Coach Cal is a big difference. Coach Cal is a national championship-winning coach. I’m learning a lot about pick-and-rolls, NBA offenses instead of just high school in New Jersey with no shot-clock. We’re running plays with shot-clock, and you’ve got pressure down your throat.”
