Harrison Twins Could Be Dribble-Drive Perfect

In case you missed it last night — personally, it’s hard for me to concentrate on anything else when I’m talking to Mary Jo Perino — Kentucky recruiting targets Andrew and Aaron Harrison played on ESPNU. Their AAU Team, the Houston Defenders, beat the Boo Williams All-Stars 73-54. Highlights of last night’s performance (sadly not set to “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”) have been compiled below (h/t: Glenn at A Sea of Blue):

In attendance last night at Orlando was most of UK’s coaching staff and The Sporting News’ Brian McLaughlin, who investigated why the twins were delegated into the point guard and shooting guard roles:
So when was the decision made that one would play point guard and one would play the wing? Both say the call came in fourth or fifth grade.

“Yeah, I’d say sometime around then,” Andrew told Sporting News after Wednesday’s victory. “We used to both be wings, but my dad told me to bring the ball up the court a couple of times and I guess maybe I did pretty well so we stuck with that.

Aaron remembers things pretty much the same way.

“He was more of a ballhandler and I was good at standing in the corner and shooting, so I guess it kind of went from there,” Aaron said.

Their father — Aaron Harrison Sr. — is their AAU coach and has been in charge of the duo and their friends for several years. He said he remembered Andrew breaking the press well at a young age, another reason for the decision.
Back at A Sea of Blue, Glenn tries his best not to overtly salivate, but does believe that they are a perfect fit for dribble-drive offense and Coach Calipari:
The reason these twins are perfect for the Kentucky offense is because they do two parts of it very well already — penetrate and kick, and the dribble-lob. Both have been a staple of Kentucky’s offense for the past couple of years, but particularly this season after Marquis Teague finally got a handle on things.
The twins list Baylor, Maryland, Villanova and SMU as other schools they’re considering. After last night’s performance, it would be hard for any Kentucky fan not to want them to attend UK.
