Hardwood Elite Updates 2012 Rankings – Missing UK?

There are five recruit-ranking sites that I keep up with for basketball, and Hardwood Elite is not one of them (but here is their updated list if you are interested). One thing you know if you follow NationOfBlue is the names and statuses of 2012 recruits Kentucky is currently sharing interest with. Heck, you can go to any of the big boys’ sites (Rivals, Scout, ESPN or 247sports) and they generally agree about who the top recruits have on their list.

Evidently Hardwood Elite thinks #1 recruit Shabazz Muhammed has narrowed his list to 5 and Kentucky is not on it. Well that’s strange, first time I’ve heard of it (and I kind of follow this stuff). But then they show that #2 recruit Andre Drummond has also narrowed his list to 5 and Kentucky is not on it. Hmmmm. What about #4 recruit Mitch McGary, who Kentucky offered 3 weeks ago, surely they show Kentucky as an interested school with him? Nope, they show McGary as having reduced his list to 4, and Kentucky is not on it.

I could go on, but this seems like kind of a glaring oversight to me. To be sure, Hardwood Elite does show UK as an interested school with some top recruits (Ricardo Ledo, DaJuan Coleman, Brandon Ashley and Anthony Bennett) but they missed the boat on the above three plus Archie Goodwin and Kaleb Tarczewski.

So for those of you thinking, “oh no, have all of those recruits suddenly lost interest in Kentucky?” My answer is “no, Hardwood Elite is wrong.” They make nice videos, but I wouldn’t put too much credence in the validity of their information.
