The recruiting trail has been high and low for the Kentucky Wildcats this week, hitting up many different states to see all of the top talent in many different classes. First, somewhat let down has happened today with the commitment of Greg Hart to Nebraska. Hart, who got his first offer from Kentucky, let everyone know this evening that he was headed to Lincoln. With that said, the Wildcats still have high hopes for another potential tight end prospect in Darren Dowdell, who told me this past weekend that the Wildcats are sitting on top of his list so far.
Next, the coaching staff was able to see many different top players this past week. While many were just simple evaluations, some, however, were able to come away with a Kentucky offer. Of those were Eric Mayes, a six-foot four defensive end who gained his first offer with the Wilcats, and then turned around and gained his second offer from Iowa State.
A big summer on campus is needed for Kentucky to have a successful recruiting year. However, with such little room to spare an offer, the coaching staff will have to be careful on who to offer.
