The Florida International coach added well-traveled Michigan native Alex Legion for this past weekend’s loss to Sam Houston State and told FOXSports.com that highly touted freshman Dominique Ferguson has been cleared and will make his college debut tomorrow night against Florida A&M.
“It’s going to take some time, but the most important thing for us is conference play,” Thomas told FOXSports.com. “Having those two guys back for league play is going to be huge for us.”
Legion, who has spent time at both Kentucky and Illinois and has just one semester left of college eligibility, scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds in his debut on Saturday.
“That sun of a gun can put it in the hole,” Thomas said.
With the addition of Legion and Ferguson, a Top 50 recruit out of high school who didn’t qualify academically to play in the fall, Thomas feels as though now he’s got the depth to compete for one of the top spots in the Sun Belt.
