You may or may not be familiar with the name Ryan Harrow. He was a 5-star guard out of Georgia who was ranked #19 overall in the 2010 class. He committed to NC State out of high school, and evidently with their head coach having been fired he his seeking to transfer. According to CourtCred, he likes Kentucky.
Now even if he was serious (which it sounds like he is), and even if Kentucky was interested (they were on his list the first time around, but did not offer), Harrow would have to sit out a year due to transfer rules and would not be eligible to play until the 2012-2013 school year. That would put him in with the 2012 recruits, and UK has no commits from that class yet.
However, I think Harrow would have to know that he would be coming in as a backup. Even though Marquis Teague could very well be one-and-done and Brandon Knight will almost certainly be gone by that time, UK is currently recruiting the likes of Shabazz Muhammed, Kyle Anderson and Ricardo Ledo – all 5-star guards in the top 10 nationally in the 2012 class. I’m pretty confident Cal will get at least one of those.
