Fans Stick Out for Jaleel Hytchye

Newly hired coach Mike Cassity has only been on the job for a mere month, but he is already showing who some of his top targets for the secondary could be.

Jaleel Hytchye, a 2013 cornerback from La Salle High School (Cincinnati, Ohio) is already receiving a fair amount of attention from the Kentucky staff. He also attended Kentucky’s first Junior Day over the weekend.

“Junior Day was really nice. I enjoyed myself,” Hytchye complimented Sunday afternoon. “We just got a tour of campus and went to the basketball game against Ole Miss.”

Prior to visiting Lexington, the 6-foot star already held an offer from Joker Phillips and his staff. The visit was primarily used to view campus and answer academic questions. However, Hytchye came away impressed with another factor.

“The people at Kentucky are the best,” Hytchye began. “They have some of the best fans in the country, so it’s hard to beat. I love the coaching staff, too.”

As mentioned above, Cassity has really made an early impact on the recruiting trail. As of right now, Cassity is staying in contact with the Cincinnati-area star.

“I’m talking to Coach [Mike] Cassity the most right now. We have a great relationship that is really growing.”

It would be an understatement to say that Hytchye was interested in what the Cats have to offer at this point. Several things stick out to the junior:

“I’m very interested in Kentucky. They play in the SEC, and they have great facilities. They also have good academic success with a broad amount of majors. It’s nice.”

In addition to UK, Hytchye is also hearing from Michigan, Penn State, Northwestern, Boston College, Purdue, and Indiana, along with others.

He also plans to attend Purdue or Toledo’s Junior Day next weekend, then he has unofficial visits planned to Michigan, Northwestern, and Indiana in March.

“Kentucky is right up there at the top with Michigan, Northwestern, and Cincinnati right now. They are recruiting me pretty hard.”
