Eric Bledsoe Investigation Will Be Released Next Week

We started the summer with the New York Times accusations into the eligibility of Eric Bledsoe. The NYT accused Bledsoe of not making the grades and accepting funds to pay for rent for him and his family. The last report from this story was the Birmingham School System was conducting an investigation via an independent law firm. It seems their findings may be available next week.

[QUOTE]The law firm investigating the high school academics of former Kentucky basketball player Eric Bledsoe plans to produce its findings next week, Birmingham Board of Education attorney Afrika Parchman said today.

Since June 24, the Birmingham school system has spent $8,305 on the investigation, which is being conducted independently by the law firm White Arnold & Dowd, according to billing records obtained through an open-records request.

In a July 1 letter, retired federal judge U.W. Clemon, a partner at the law firm, wrote that the firm strives to be cost-effective and the school system’s total bill would not exceed $10,000. The letter identified that the Alabama High School Athletic Association requested the investigation into Bledsoe.

The letter said that the scope of the independent investigation was limited to issues surrounding Bledsoe’s course grades at Hayes and Parker, as compared to the final transcript of his grades. “We will not investigate any other issue,” Clemon wrote.
