We’ve got a big week ahead of us Kentucky Wildcat fans. There is a Boston University game on Tuesday when the team will need to show that they can handle the adversity of the loss and regroup to add marks to the win column. Then on Saturday an even bigger test when the young Wildcats travel to North Carolina to face the Tarheels. Somewhere is the middle of those games, an even bigger test for Enes Kanter is expected.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
It is widely thought that the appeal for Enes Kanter’s ineligibility ruling will be heard this week. If that is the case, there is a chance that a ruling could be announced this week too, but more than likely it will be the following week. The test for Enes? It’s simple: Convince the NCAA eligibility appeals committee that the impermissible funds he received weren’t all that different than the funds Josh Selby received. OK, it’s really not all that simple but you get the point.
Josh Selby and Enes Kanter are two completely different situations. But really, they aren’t all that different. It was determined that both received impermissible benefits and when you look at that simple fact, the cases are identical. The only difference is that the NCAA has since ruled Selby eligible after paying a fine and sitting out 9 games as where Kanter is still awaiting his appeal.
The difference in the two cases is fundamentally where the impermissible benefits came from. In Selby’s case, it was an NBA players business manager who supposedly “helped the family through a difficult recruiting process” as stated by Selby’s mother. In Kanter’s case, we all know that the impermissible benefits came from the Turkish basketball team.
This week we will find out if Coach Cal and his young Wildcats can pass the test on the court. Sometime in the very near future, we’ll find out if Enes can pass the test with the appeals committee.
It’s a big week, and we’ll be here to walk you through it. Stick with Nation of Blue, The King of UK Fan Sites.
