Over the weekend it was announced that Demarcus Cousins will play Derrick Favors in a One-On-One battle for the third spot in this years NBA draft. Well, whoever wins might not win the the third pick, but Cousins definitely has nothing to lose in this match-up. It’s already believed the Favors will go as the third pick in the draft and therefore has the most to lose.
While Rod Thorn obviously wanted to see Favors go up against tough competition like Cousins – and that is why he pushed Favors’ camp to agree to this workout – there was no guarantee that something like this would get done. If Favors had not agreed to the joint workout, Thorn would have most likely taken him if he accomplished the goals stated above, because it would have been the safe bet for the Nets. Now, if Favors gets pushed around by Cousins, he could fall out of the No. 3 slot.
While Favors is taking a big risk by taking on Cousins in one-on-one drills, the risk for Cousins is low. Right now, he will probably go to Sacramento with the fifth pick (his agent recently canceled a workout in Minnesota because he thinks the Wolves will draft Wes Johnson, but if he absolutely dominates Favors, he can go to the Nets at three.
You can read the complete article here…
If I’m Derrick Favors, I’m firing my agent! Why on earth would you want to play Demarcus Cousins in a game of One-On-One. There’s arguably hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line and you want to risk it for…..pride? Bragging rights? Just ask A.J. Ogilvy what it’s like to play Cousins, I’m sure he’ll agree that this is one of the worst ideas since placing Ellen as a judge on American Idol (yeah, I’m not an Ellen fan..what’s with all that dancing anyway.). I just don’t understand it. John Wall sat out some of the workouts in the NBA combine. Why? Because he had nothing to gain and everything to lose. Oh, and this was recommended by his agent.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy Favors is playing Cousins. I can’t wait to see him drafted as the number three pick. I just wish it was on going to be on TV. that would definitely call for a live blog.
Since we’re talking One-On-One Basketball, Here are some videos of some interesting One-On-One match-ups.

And for all the pre-teens out there, here’s Justin Bieber Vs. Usher
OK… At first there was no chance of me putting a Justin Bieber video on Nation of Blue. Then after watching the kid play, I have to admit he’s got some skills. Then it hit me… just by having the keywords “Justin Bieber” in a blog post, we’ll probably have to upgrade to a new server plan. So play on Justin! He’s definitely got some handles….
