Tomorrow night will be the kick-off of the 2011-2012 Kentucky basketball season as the Cats finally match-up against their first outside competition. Many expect this to be a blow out, so there will be other aspects of the game to take in while watching. One thing I’m most excited to find out is who will get the starting nod, Darius Miller or Michael Kidd-Gilchrist?
The last few days Calipari has been raving about the play of Kidd-Gilchrist, even using the term “vicious” to describe his play from practice this past weekend. Some might wonder if all the rave is some sort of motivation for Miller to step up his game? After all of the complimenting Cal did for Terrence Jones last week before the blue/white scrimmage, I find it hard to believe he is just using this as a motivational ploy.
One thing I noticed while attending the women’s clinic about MKG was his hustle and speed, but he needed to improve his shot, there was a something funky with his form. Over the past two weeks, the improvement of Kidd-Gilchrist has been visible, I think he is starting to “get it.”
I believe Darius Miller might go down as one of the most beloved Wildcats of all time. Why do I believe that? Miller has survived Billy Gillispie, he has made his name known in a sea of 5-star one and dones, and he is a true, home-grown 4 year Wildcat. There is nothing Kentucky fans love more than one of their own playing in the blue and white. In the blue/white game last week Darius was more than solid and his senior leadership will be the core of this team.
So who you start tomorrow night BBN? I want to know who you pick and why, leave it in the comments.
