Daniel Ross High on Four Teams

Jeffersontown defensive end Daniel Ross may have had the best showing at Kentucky’s skills camp Friday night, not a surprise to most. Nowadays, Ross is expected to be one of the better players on the field.

Ross also agreed with the media and coaches that were raving about his performance.

“From my perspective, I think I did great,” he began. “The coaches told me the only thing I need to work on right now is my standing stance. Once I get that better, I’ll be ready to go. Overall, I think I did really well.”

The rising senior was also invited to return next weekend and participate in another UK camp. If his schedule permits, Ross will definitely attend.

However, he also wants to check out some more schools, those with high caliber.

The 6-foot-5 defensive stud doesn’t have a list to this point, but he does mention four favorites right now, all of which he wants to learn more about.

“I don’t really have a list, but I like Kentucky, Oregon, Ohio State, and UCF.”

There are a handful of other colleges, including some small division schools, but Ross says he is really paying attention to the four favorites. It is obvious he is interested in Kentucky, as he continues to visit and get to know the coaches better.

But the most interest may reside in the schools farther away from home:

“I’m very interested in Oregon. That’s a place I’ve really wanted to go look at.”

“Me and my teammate DeMichael Jackson are supposed to visit UCF sometime this summer, and I’ve heard great things about it down there. I know DeMarcus Smith pretty well.”

While interest is flowing through him in different schools, Ross admits there is one team that sticks out to him as far as recruiting him the hardest right now.

“Kentucky is really recruiting me hard. I talk to Coach David Turner all the time, and he checks on how I’m doing in school and just how everything is going.”

“Coach Joker (Phillips) also keeps up with me a good bit. UK is easily the top team recruiting me right now.”

Many of the coaches have interacted with Ross during his recruitment, but Coach Turner is leading the charge for his services to this point.

“I talk to Coach Turner the most, but I also talk to Coach (Greg) Nord, too. Especially when I go to camps, I talk to a lot of coaches.”

It seems that Kentucky is building the best relationship with Ross right now, and while many think the spectacular athlete to be a Kentucky lean, he deems that he has no set timetable to make a decision.

“I don’t have a set time, nor do I know where I’m going,” he explained. “I will commit when I’m comfortable. I would like to take some visits, though.”

With that said, Ross also wouldn’t mind attending some more camps this summer.

“I don’t have anything planned yet, but I need to go through some letters and see who wants me to attend some camps,” he said.

Until he figures out camps, Ross will continue to polish his stance and make himself a better player on the defensive side of the football.

He also plans to pay a lot of attention to Kentucky, Oregon, Ohio State, and UCF as the summer progresses.
