Daniel Orton’s Disastrous Debut

Today was the start of the NBA Summer League and our first chance to see any of last years Wildcats on the hardwood. Unfortunately, it wasn’t much to see. The spotlight was definitely on Orton at the start of the broadcast with the commentators talking about Kentucky having 5 players drafted and continuing on bragging about Orton’s size.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

The hype was quickly silenced when Orton picked up 3 fouls in the first 7 minutes of the game. Orton was cold from the field and finally let his frustration show in the third quarter when he had a small scuffle with Indiana’s McRoberts which led to a technical foul. Including the technical, Orton had 5 fouls against him and there were still 17 minutes left in the game. Orton wouldn’t see any of those minutes; he was ejected after the altercation for “throwing his elbow” at McRoberts.

How’s that for a debut? 3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 blocks, 5 fouls, 1 technical and being ejected.

So after Orton seemed to making a turn for the best with UK fans, the wound to his NBA career has been opened.
