Was that really Darius Miller? Was that the kid who stuggled the entire year to find his place on this team? Going from starting, to sitting, to starting, and finally to starring. Darius Miller was the best player on the floor vs Wake Forest. No Question. Ok, ok, I know. John Wall is awesome, Cousins is a man, and Patrick Patterson is the legend. But Darius Miller is the key. [PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
When Darius Miller plays, this team is unstoppable. Every coach who has coached him has expected him to be the integral part of the Kentucky Wildcats. He is long, wirey, and can shoot the basketball. He has large amounts of versatility and is such a matchup problem for opponents. Yesterday he broke out of his shell, dominating Wake Forest. Darius Miller is the key.
Darnell Dodson has proven that he can’t be the guy to hit the big shots. Darnell is the George Foster of the Wildcats. Foster would always hit the homerun in the 8th up 5 runs. Never the big one. Dodson hits the 3 when you are up 15. You have to hit the shots when the team needs them. This makes Darius Miller the key.
The 3 point shot is essential to the Cats winning the National Championship. The Cats win by an average of 9 points when they hit 6 or less three point shots in a game. They win by an average of 21 points when they hit 7 or more. Darius Miller is the key to this stat. When Darius hits shots, the Cats dominate. When he doesn’t, they have to work much harder to win. In a tournament where you travel and play a lot on short rest, the easier the game is, the more rested the players will be.
John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe and Patrick Patterson are consistent and you know exactly what you are getting from them every night. You don’t always know with Darius Miller. This team needs Miller to play like he did last night. The long winding road to Indy will be a lot nicer trip if Darius Miller plays like everyone knows he can.
My conspiracy theory of Darius Miller being the key to winning a National Championship is my opinion. Do you agree or disagree? If you disagree, tell me who or what you think is the key for the Cats to keep rolling to Indy.
