Last year’s team featuring John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Eric Bledsoe, Patrick Patterson and Daniel Orton, all who were selected in the first round of the 2010 NBA draft, have set the expectations high for this years class. Perhaps the expectations are unfairly high. Coach Calipari seems to think so and is trying to let fans know that we should expect the same results as last year. If they happen, they happen.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
When talking about the upcoming trip to Canada and if he feels any pressure for his team to look good Coach Cal said “To be honest, I don’t. I hope we look bad, to take everything away from people thinking we win 35 games a year, because it just doesn’t happen. …
“Last year’s team, I don’t want this year’s team to be judged by them. There’s no reason to.”
And that’s fair. But that’s not to say that it can’t happen. The talent of the new guys do tally the #1 recruiting class this year and although we lost some experience, some existing players have gained experience and are doing well. Coach Cal says that Liggins and Miller are more mature and in better condition than ever.
We’re all hopeful for another 30 win season (and hopefully the “right” 30 wins). Go Big Blue!
