Coach Cal talks a little bit about the surprise phone call from Terrence Jones during recruiting season. If you recall, Terrence Jones provided a verbal commitment to the University of Washington and shortly after, rumors ran rampant of a botched decision made by Jones. Then on the final night of recruiting, Jones reversed his decision by committing to Kentucky.

“He called us and said I want you to keep recruiting me because I made a mistake and I don’t know what I’m doing. We were told he was coming to Kentucky, then he picked the Washington hat. Stunned.
“I’m going to my house with my assistants and he walks out and says you won’t believe who’s on the phone. I said ‘who?’ He said Terrence. I go ‘what?’ Tell him congratulations, good luck. ‘Why are you giving me the phone.’ No you don’t understand. The kid’s in tears, he’s crying. So I say ‘hey, what’s up?’ The way I am, when a kid commits to a school, we’re done. Now if a kid does what Terrence Jones did and calls me in tears and says he made a mistake, all bets are off.
