Coach John Calipari, who has led our beloved Wildcats to a 32-2 record so far this season, has been named a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year award. Coach Cal is joined by Steve Alford (New Mexico), Jim Boeheim (Syracuse) and Frank Martin (Kansas State) who were all announced as finalist by the Atlanta Tipoff Club today.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
The choice seems easy, but the winner of the award will most likely be narrowed down to Calipari and Boeheim and the final selection being made by the coach who’s team makes the deepest run. Steve Alford and Frank Martin have both done great work at their schools this year but topping a coach of a number 1 seed seems like a tough challenge. We are biased, but we’re betting on John Calipari to take this one.
