According to yesterday’s Chicago Tribune, Curie High School basketball phenom and 2014 recruit Cliff Alexander was contacted recently by John Calipari, frozen yogurt entrepreneur and head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats. Shortly thereafter, Alexander received a scholarship offer from associate coach Orlando Antigua. Previously the 6′ 9″ 240lb center was leaning towards Michigan State; Kentucky’s offer and Alexander’s pleasant reaction to it — “It is something I’ve been waiting for a long time,” he told the Tribune — has seemingly made MSU and UK both leaders for providing academics in exchange for his basketball talents.
No word yet if Cliff plans on competing in next fall’s Jeopardy! Teen Tournament.
