Changes in Special Forces

During the first two games of the season there have been some misses on the Special Forces squad, particularly kicking. This week Joker and staff may be making a change and replacing placekicker Ryan Tydlacka with Craig McIntosh. “If we went today I think that we might go with McIntosh (for field goals and extra points) and (Joe) Mansour would be our kickoff guy,” Phillips said. “We have everybody just focusing on one phase.”[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]

I’m glad to see that Joker is willing to make these changes. Being a dynamic team will require fluidity with some positions. After leaving 4 points on the field in game one against Louisville it was thought that Joe Mansour should get the start against Western. However no changes were made during for the Western Game. It seems that Mansour will have to wait his turn with McIntosh possibly getting the go ahead today.

McIntosh, a sophomore, has yet to score his first point for the Wildcats. It seems like he’ll have an opportunity to get something on his stat sheet soon. During his freshman year he handled the kickoff duties for most of the season 10 games, posting 11 touchbacks in 51 kickoffs. That was good enough to get him ranked 4th in the SEC for touchbacks.

Consistency is something that we will need throughout the year and if Craig is providing that consistency right now, then I’ll be glad to see him start. Mansour will get his chance soon enough I am sure.

Go CATS!!
