Chane Behanan Named MVP and Now Waits On Kentucky

A few days ago, we reported how Chane Behanan was impressing everyone at the NBA’s top 100 Camp in Charlotsville, VA. It seems he did a little more than leave an impression, as he was named MVP of the camp. Indiana was so impressed, they immediately made him an offer and he may visit IU this Thursday.

Here’s an excerpt from Zagsblog.com

Even Chane Behanan admitted to being surprised at his most recent performance. After averaging 14.7 points and leading the Hawks to the championship game, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Behanan was named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.

“I was shocked,” Behanan, the No. 6 power forward in the Class of 2011, said Sunday night in a phone interview. “I felt good this morning. A lot of people came through that camp and I was the most outstanding one so I was kind of happy.”

Behanan’s phone hasn’t been ringing off the hook the way you might expect, but he did pick up an offer from Indiana Sunday.

“Indiana just called and offered me right off the top,” said Behanan, who attends Bowling Green (Ky.) High. “I’ll probably go to Indiana Thursday. It’s like two hours [away]. I’m not sure yet.”

Behanan, who decommitted from Cincinnati last year, said the rest of his list includes West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Purdue, Alabama, Texas, Kansas, Purdue and Georgia.

Though he lists Kentucky, John Calipari and his staff haven’t yet reached out.
“No, they haven’t,” he said. “I [haven’t] heard from them in a long time so I don’t really know where they stand, so I’m just patiently waiting.”

Would he like to hear from them?

“Oh yeah, I would,” he said.

I know Calipari recruits the best players possible and I think Behanan fits the description. He’s also an in state talent that the program needs.
