The Kentucky Wildcats will face Alabama in the SEC tournament. South Carolina decided to let the air out too early and let the Tide roll back to a nice win. I was excited that the Gamecocks lost so I didn’t have to see Darin “Schoolboy” Horn work his magic vs the Cats once again. I would say many in the Big Blue Nation smiled today as Deven Downey lost. Downey is truly a nice player and I am really glad I don’t have to see him ever again.[PRBREAK][/PRBREAK]
My guess is the Cats have been thinking alot about playing the Gamecocks again. The two games in the regular season were hotly contested by the teams, fans, and even the school’s student governments. I would say Cal has gone over a lot more on South Carolina then he did on Bama. I would have.
Now Alabama has won. We beat them convincingly during the regular season in Rupp Arena. As a fan I am overlooking Alabama. I think Kentucky will overlook them too, just not on purpose. They wanted to play USC. They knew they were going play USC. Now they aren’t.
If Kentucky overlooks Bama, this could be a close one. Bama will not quit, and if they get down, they just keep playing and attacking. Teams like Bama are scary because if you decide to take a break, they aren’t and that is when big scoring runs happen. John Wall has said that they haven’t played an entire 40 minutes yet. It is tournament time and the only way Alabama can make the tournament is to win this one. They are playing for their playing lives. I just hope the Cats match the intensity and realizes the urgency that the Tide will have. Don’t look ahead to Tennesee and the Cats roll in their first Tournament game in the Cal Era. If they do overlook look them, we win in a lot tougher game then it should have been.
