In what began as a heated first half between the platinum and the orange, the Cats easily pulled away in this contest 69 to 44. Lead by Anthony Davis and his near triple double performance, Kentucky cruised on to a 22-1, 8-0 (SEC) record on the season.
The Wildcats came out strong taking a quick 10-2 lead and never looked back. Da’ Brow lead all scorers with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks going into halftime with a cool thirteen point lead. Not only did UK shoot a phenomonal 68.4% in the first half, they held the dirty Vols to 28.1% in the half, despite Renaldo Woolridge’s five for five 3 point performance in the half.
As the second half began, it was all about A.D. and his effort to get the coveted triple double. Even though that milestone could not be met, this still was a beat down from the tip-off. Kentucky came out strong and focused in their NIKE platinum uniforms and proved that they are still miles ahead of Tennessee.
Next up, the Cats head back out on the road to the dreaded South Carolina as the big blue tries attempts to take down a depleated Gamecock squad.
Fun facts to Note:
* Davis was soooo close to a triple double finishing with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 blocks.
* Per WikiCourtney – The Cats have swept the Vols this year in football, women’s basketball, and both men’s basketball games, and if the ladies win in Knoxville, history will be made.
* Michael Kidd-Gilchrist’s game wasn’t too shabby with a solid performace of 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
* The Wildcats extend their home win streak to 47 #WOW
GO. CATS.
